Darjeeling Okayti Black Tea

The Okayti Tea Factory was built in 1888 and still stands today, producing some of the finest Darjeeling teas. The Kumbhat family has supervised the tea production for the last three decades. Their experience and expertise ensures that the tea leaves retain the fragrance and flavor of the fresh leaf. Our Okayti Darjeeling is an FTGBOP1 with lot of tips. It has an exquisite flowery bouquet, full body and a typical Muscat flavor and distinctive mellow character. It is best enjoyed early in the afternoon, and never with milk or sugar.

Darjeeling teas are considered among the finest, rarest and most prestigious of black teas. The taste of Darjeeling varies with the seasons or harvest periods. The first flush or springtime tea, is harvested from late February to mid-April. The young leaves yield a light tea with a flavor of green Muscat. Our Okayti Estate Darjeeling is a prized first flush tea.

Seen from the air, the Okayti Tea Estate is a lush carpet of green spread out over the picturesque Mirik Valley between 4000 and 6200 feet in elevation. Okayti has one of the highest average elevations of all the tea gardens in the Darjeeling district. The natural beauty of its surroundings with waterfalls, tall pine trees and the magnificent back drop of the Himalayas also make it one of the prettiest tea gardens in the world.
