Golden Sprouting Black Tea
This is a lovely tea with a depth of flavor that includes lingering sweet notes and an enticing aroma. It has long, wiry leaves with lush, golden tips.
Yunnan Province in southwest China is home to some of the country's most ancient tea trees. Situated high in the hills overlooking terraced farms, these striking tea trees often exceed five or six feet in height.
The Yunnan varietal yields a large leaf that is more evident in the region's green teas. But the black teas from this area offer tippy buds with a striking gold or copper color in the finished tea. A preponderance of these tender tips gives Golden Sprouting its name as well as its round, smooth taste.
